MEXICO CITY, February 3, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A leader in the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has declared that the breakdown of traditional families, far from being a “crisis,” is actually a triumph for human rights.

Speaking at a colloquium held last month at Colegio Mexico in Mexico City, UNFPA representative Arie Hoekman denounced the idea that high rates of divorce and out-of-wedlock births represent a social crisis, claiming that they represent instead the triumph of “human rights” against “patriarchy.”

It makes front page news when conservative elected officials are accused of selling-out to monolithic corporate lobbies like "Big Oil" or "Big Tobacco."  Yet the media rarely take notice when liberal politicians toe the line for extreme ideological special interests.
 
Case in point: Within minutes after swearing in, President Obama had the White House website updated to declare his unconditional support for every demand of the politically powerful and very well-funded homosexual lobby (a.k.a., "Big Homo"). By announcing to the world his pro-"gay" agenda, Obama has thrown gasoline on smoldering culture war embers, generating a firestorm of controversy.

The children had been in their grandparents' care during their mother's struggles with heroin. After their mother failed to bring them home from a visit, social workers became involved and the police were called in.

The children, a five-year-old boy called "Josh" and his four-year-old sister "Chloe," were placed in foster care, an arrangement the grandparents believed to be temporary.

Now that Bishop Williamson has been punished and silenced, Pope Benedict XVI's grand design for the reunion of orthodox Catholic Christianity is going according to plan. Cardinal Castrillon, head of Ecclesia Dei, has just been quoted as saying that Bishop Fellay, head of the SSPX, recognises the Second Vatican Council. Amazing. (Hat-tip: the great Father Z.)

So, in the course of one day, we learn that a personal prelature is on offer to hundreds of thousands of members of the Traditional Anglican Communion, and that the leader of the SSPX, which in the past has portrayed Vatican II as the work of Satan, now accepts the broad thrust of the Council. Americans entering the military often receive Bibles, courtesy of the Gideons International. But the Gideons have been told that while they can leave complimentary Bibles at most military induction stations, they cannot stay there to proselytize or preach to the recruits.

Daniel Trew, public information officer for the Military Entrance Processing Command, says the policy was recently established after concerns were raised by the American Civil Liberties Union.
 
"Our legal person went with a representative from the ACLU to one of our stations, and we actually found where the Gideons' individual at that station was getting up and talking to applicants who had just enlisted," he explains. "We could not allow that to go on because the applicants could perceive that this talk was given under the auspices of the Department of Defense."

Good news from Rome today, courtesy of Fr Z. The Pope has appointed Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera - known as "Little Ratzinger" - as the new Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship.

The Cardinal, currently Archbishop of Toledo, is an enthusiast for the Extraordinary Form of Mass, which he has celebrated in public. (His predecessor Cardinal Arinze, though conservative in many ways, was no great supporter of the traditional liturgy.) He has also ordained priests into the Institute of Christ the King, whose priests celebrate only using the older Missal.

A new study compiled by the Josephson Institute -- a California-based ethics organization -- highlights the problem of dishonesty among America's school-age children.

More than 29,000 students were randomly surveyed for the study -- and Dr. Bill Maier, clinical psychologist at Focus on the Family, says the results are troubling. The study reveals that 64 percent of those surveyed said they had cheated on a test, 36 percent claimed to have used the Internet to plagiarize their school work, 42 percent lied to save money, and overall 93 percent claimed they were satisfied with their personal ethics. BALTIMORE - The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is permanently cutting off all funding for ACORN in the wake of an embezzlement scandal and allegations of voter registration fraud and political partisanship.

The national nonprofit, with more than 1,200 local affiliates, attempts to organize low-income people to advocate for improvement in their communities.

Bishop Roger P. Morin of New Orleans said yesterday that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, an antipoverty program run by the bishops' conference, decided that it could no longer be certain of ACORN's integrity or accountability. Jay Scott Newman told The Greenville News on Wednesday that church teaching doesn't allow him to refuse Holy Communion to anyone based on political choices, but that he'll continue to deliver the church's strong teaching on the "intrinsic and grave evil of abortion" as a hidden form of murder.

Both Obama and Joe Biden, the vice president-elect, support legal abortions. Obama has called it a "divisive issue" with a "moral dimension," and has pledged to make women's rights under Roe v.             We wish to thank all those who took part in the nine-day Rosary Novena prior to the US Presidential election.
            Despite our prayers, the nation chose the party of abortion, of "gay" marriage and of death.
            At Fatima, when little Lucia asked Our Lady if Francisco will go to heaven, Our Lady said, "Yes, but he must say many rosaries."
            Our Lady did not say "one Rosary" or "a couple of Rosaries", but "many Rosaries."
            Though we all offered this Rosary novena -- and countless other prayers and sacrifices -- to keep the most radical, most pro-death candidate in American history from becoming president, it seems that there were not enough prayers, not enough good people working to overcome the immeasurable evil that now blankets our nation. There was no call for a nationwide Rosary campaign from our nations’ bishops, which most certainly would have made the difference.

The following vision does have some very remarkable factors which seem to be fully true to U.S. history as well as to the potential history of "today." The story of the occurrence and the content of this vision was first published in the U.S. war veteran's paper, "The National Tribute" in December 1880. That paper is now known as the "Stars and Stripes." The occasion of the vision, as told to publisher Wesley Bradshaw, is as follows: "The last time I ever saw Anthony Sherman was on the fourth of July, 1859, in Independence Square. He was then ninety-nine years old, and becoming very feeble. But though so old, his dimming eyes rekindled as he gazed upon Independence Hall, which he had come to visit once more."

It was 1973, of course, when abortion was legalized and it was the year that America became the stage for a massive "ritual," which only prayers can exorcise.

AMBIKAPUR, India (UCAN) -- Dioceses in Chhattisgarh state, which borders violence-wracked Orissa, have decided to organize themselves against possible violence by Hindu extremists.

Laypeople including youths have taken up the responsibility of guarding churches and institutions in Ambikapur and Jashpur dioceses, said Bishop Patras Minj of Ambikapur. "So far no untoward incident has happened," the Jesuit bishop told UCA News on Oct. 10. No violence has been reported since then either.

The dioceses are close to Orissa state, Chhattisgarh's neighbor, where anti-Christian violence beginning in late August killed at least 58 people and rendered about 50,000 people homeless. Hindu extremists burned down 4,500 houses, convents, presbyteries and other Church institutions during the seven-week pogrom.

This video is a documentary sent to Rome on January 25, 2008 giving a full photographic and video montage of the level of depravity to which the Archdiocese of San Francisco has fallen within the last 30 years especially during the governance of Archbishop George H. Niederauer. This video was produced for the Roman Authorities to see with their own eyes what is happening within San Francisco because of the lack of Roman Catholic Leadership.

This video is a graphic and shocking documentary not meant for the timid or those who are afraid to see the reality of what happens to an Archdiocese and a City that has no a real Catholic Moral Authority to guide it. We can read and hear about what is happening but until we see it with our own eyes we really do not understand the depths that evil can reach. In the case of San Francisco, the homosexual agenda and all the perversity it encourages has not only been allowed to silently fester but has been given open approbation by the one person who should have been railing against it. Archbishop Niederauer's promotion of the homosexual agenda throughout his career has finally culminated in rampant evil, manifesting in an increase in blasphemy, sacrilege, heresy, depravity, and finally DESECRATION of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
